【阿浓专栏】查一查Weird

网上资料说，从7月23日到8月3日，贺锦丽竞选总部的X帐号，在14篇推文中用Weird形容特朗普和万斯。不妨到字典上查一查这字的含义：

古怪的、奇异的、不可思议的、怪诞的、荒唐的、荒谬的。Unusual & not sensible or acceptable. （《朗文当代英汉双解词典》）

鬼怪似的、怪诞的、神秘的。（陆谷孙编《英汉大词典》）

非人世所有、不可思议的、奇异的、神秘、怪异、可怖。（梁实秋编《远东英汉五用辞典》）

Strange , unusual, out of the ordinary, unearthy,  unnatural ,Uncanny （Canada Oxford Dictionary）

 Suggestive of or caused by supernatural, Very strange of bizarre（The Penguin Dictionary）

在词典的定义中还出现了不少weird的同义词和近义词，网上英语学习连结Engoo，把它们依「奇怪」程度排列如下：

• bizarre：极度奇怪，负面，有时你会因为这种怪异感到紧张或害怕。
• weird：非常奇怪，负面，偶尔也会使你不自在，但程度比 bizarre 弱。
• strange：奇怪、不寻常的，会引起你注意，负面程度较轻微。
• peculiar：不寻常的，有时含有负面意涵。
• eccentric：不寻常的，有时带点有趣的意涵。
• odd：不寻常的，不含有负面意涵，不寻常的程度更弱。

特朗普对于被定性为Weild当然不高兴，他说 “They’re the weird ones. Nobody’s ever called me weird. I’m a lot of things, but weird I’m not,”

他又说，”We’re very solid people. We want to have strong borders, we want to have good elections, we want low interest rates, we want to be able to buy a house.”

“I think we’re the opposite of weird, they’re weird.”
